Note: For this to work correctly, you must ensure that you tick 'Keep original files' for your chosen camera photos in Settings -> Cameras.

Add File copy option: After photo AI processing
​In the above example screenshot, the files are being copied After Photo AI processing has completed. This means that the copied photos will be the AI modified photos and the Original photos will be the unmodified photos as captured by the camera.

Add QR code options for original photos and original video
When defining a QR code you can now choose to reference any of the original photos and/or original video. Here the QR code is being set to Text + Current original photo:

​Add an optional 'Country code' text box on the 'Phone number' event screen when using Twilio SMS
This option is available in Settings -> Social media -> Phone SMS -> Twilio SMS:

​The text variable {AIYOURTEXT} can now be used in AI modify image text prompts
If you include the text variable {AIYOURTEXT} in AI modify text prompts, this will cause the 'Your text' text box to automatically appear on the Modify image AI event screen whenever the user chooses a text prompt that contains the text variable.

Add the 'AI background processing' feature
There is now an option to have all AI background processing happen 'behind the scenes'.
This is in Event Designer -> Event structure -> Photo AI.

When not selected, the event will display the Busy screen while each photo AI process is occurring (the default).

When selected, each photo AI process will occur as a background task and the event will continue, allowing further photos to be immediately taken.  In this mode, various features are not available in the event flow, such as photo enhancements, photo printing and photo emailing.  Use this option to provide an increased throughput of users.  Completed AI photos will then appear at a later time in the event folder.  You can also use the File copy actions to copy completed AI photos to other folders (see File copy actions above).

Add the AI setting: HttpClient
By default, photo AI processing occurs using Curl commands.  You can set this option to switch to using HttpClient commands.  You may find that this is a more reliable option.

Add the Security setting: 'Cancel swipe up gesture'
By default, the Windows Swipe Up gesture cannot be prevented, which allows the user to access the Taskbar when the event is playing full screen. 
Tick this option to cancel the Swipe Up gesture, hence preventing the user from interacting with the Taskbar.
Note: All other touch swipe gestures can be turned off in Windows Settings -> Blue tooth & devices -> Touch.

Other

• Photos transferred directly from external cameras to a Watch folder event are now automatically rotated according to their rotate metadata values
• Reduce the Evaluation nag screen frequency
• No longer require the Tls1.3 setting. This is now set up automatically when the app starts
• Increase the service point connection limit from 2 to 20, for improving emailing and downloads

Fixes

• The 'Email Or Phone SMS' option does not prevent using the Email option after using the Phone SMS option
• User defined screens not appearing if placed after T & C screen
• The 'Reset photo' action:
  • does not work in 'Watch folder' events
  • causes image grids not to be displayed correctly when a screen first appears
• Recording the photo session does not work if a user defined screen is shown before the 'Get ready' screen.

Add 'Show QR codes' options to the Media view item
​QR codes can now be shown on all thumbnails in the Media browser event screen:​

Reset photo action
A new Reset photo action is provided to allow you to reset a photo back to its original state (as obtained from the camera).  This is useful if the current photo has been altered during the workflow (e.g. using AI modifications) and the user wishes to remove the modification and try different effects.

Touch swipe manipulation
RightBooth grid items now respond to touch swipe manipulations in Play mode if they contain more items than can be displayed in the grid.  This allows you to use the 'finger swipe' gesture to browse items in the grid. 

Auto run Package files
Double clicking a package file (.rbep) in Windows Explorer will now cause RightBooth to open and automatically install the event package.

Fast App Restart
The App Restart feature has been improved.  App restart no longer requires the Watchdog to be running and the restart time typically now takes under 3 seconds to complete.
Note: When running RightBooth for long sessions, it is recommended to periodically restart the app in order to recover from potentially incremental memory leaks.

Webcam Connection Detect
When playing an event, RightBooth will now detect when the main webcam is plugged into the PC and will automatically restart in order to get the webcam working in the event.

Convert MP4 file assets to WMV file format
A new setting is available that will automatically convert MP4 video files to the WMV file format.  This can happen in the Screen Editor at the time an MP4 video file is chosen to be included as an asset on an event screen.
Note: On some systems, prolonged use of MP4 video files can lead to reduced performance of RightBooth over time.  Using WMV video files negates this issue.

Miscellaneous Features

• Add option to create photo animations in MP4 video format
• Photo and video placeholder images now include a single pixel black border
• Enhanced debug output
• Rewrite the Curl function to capture more output
• Add new settings in Miscellaneous:
  • Curl connect timeout
  • Hide load. Prevent brief black screen flashes when using video files as event screen backgrounds

Fixes

• Overlay image and overlay logo should be added after AI photo effects
• Image & Video upload API is not working due to the service provider's endpoint being altered without notice
• 'Face swap AI' and 'Photo modify AI' event screens are added in the wrong order in the Screen list
• User defined screens not appearing if added at various places in the Screen list, e.g. after the Face swap AI screen
• Files not included in event email
• Objects can be incorrectly included in the marquee selection
• Intro and outro images are not applied in Fast mode video enhancements

This Photo 1 image item will contain the modified image, not the original photo.

You can now add a second image placeholder item on the Print layout screen as follows:

• On the Screen Editor toolbox, tick the Add items checkbox to show the Add toolbox.
• On the Add toolbox, click the Image button to show the Image selector panel.
• On the Image selector panel, click the Add placeholder button to add a second image item onto the Print layout screen:

3 - Make the second image item show the original photo
You now need to alter this new image item so that it references the original photo as follows:

• On the Screen Editor toolbox, tick the Properties checkbox to show the Properties toolbox.
• Select the new image placeholder item so that its properties appear on Properties toolbox.
• At the top of the Image properties toolbox, choose the image type: Define file from the combo box, then click the Content button to show the Define file panel.
• In the Define file text box, enter the text variable:{ORIGINALPATHPHOTOFILENAME1} and click the OK button:

Event specific printer
There is a new option in the section: Event design --> Event camera/printer to allow you to choose a specific printer that will be used to print photo layouts in a specific event.  Doing this will override the use of the default printer specified in RB settings.

Save WhatsApp numbers
The new option: Save numbers is available in Event design --> Event structure --> Files to WhatsApp. This allows you to optionally record client WhatsApp phone numbers into the file: WhatsApp.txt, located within the event's output folder.

Fixes to the Media controller
Various issues have been resolved with the Media controller, including showing the correct icons for Play/Pause and Mute/Unmute states.

Unfortunately, this option had not been ticked and no photo print layout images had been created during the event.  So the RightBooth user contacted me asking if there was any way to subsequently create these images.

This video demonstrates how to manually create photo print layouts after the event has finished...

2 - The Locked event screen
Go to the Screen editor.  You will notice there is a Locked screen in the Screen list which defaults to showing: 'This event is currently locked':

3 - The Finished event screen
In the Screen editor you will also notice the Finished screen which defaults to showing: 'This event has now finished':

​3 - Set the Recording event as a Watch folder event
In Event type, select the Watch folder option.  This stops the event from being a Recording event and now sets it as a Watch folder event.
Then, select the folder you want the event to watch.  Here we are watching the folder C:\Videos.  Note that the event continues to be named VideoEvent...

​Notice that, as a Watch folder event, while some of the event features are no longer available, the video enhancements are still included:

4 - Play the event
Now when you play the event, it will:

• watch the folder C:\Videos and it will find all the unprocessed videos in there
• process each video in turn, automatically adding the video enhancements
• place the processed videos in the 'VideoEvent' output folder

When the job is complete, you can switch the event back to being a Recording event.

IMPORTANT - A Watch folder event automatically deletes the files from the watch folder and places the processed files in the output folder.  For this reason you might want to make a backup copy of your source files before you put them through the watch folder process.  Doing this will allow you to repeat the watch folder process (for whatever reason) if required at a later date.

Other Features

• New event actions
  • Get video WiFi.   Allows you to provide the user with an option to re-transfer the most recently recorded video item over a WiFi connection.  Useful if a file transfer process fails.
  • Refresh browser.  Allow you to provide the user with an option to re-load a web page that is currently showing in the web browser item.  For example: Useful if the WhatsApp window fails to initialise.

 

• Video and photo error retry - Transfer WiFi  A new setting that will cause RightBooth to automatically re-transfer a file over WiFi if the previous file transfer fails.

​

• 'Reset view' option on the Media view item  This option will cause the Media view item to reset to showing the start of the media list.  If not selected, the Media view item will continue to show the most recently viewed item.

 

• Option to use the Webcam for the QR access code  When selected, this option will cause RightBooth to use a configured webcam for scanning QR access codes.

• Add the 'Email addresses' button on the panel: Tasks --> Email files.  This will open a text file containing all the email addresses from the Task list.

 

• Optimised RightBooth Player.  The new Player app...
  • is one third the size of the main RightBooth app.
  • uses over 20Mb less memory than the main RightBooth app.
  • loads and executes faster than the main RightBooth app.
