Using a DSLR Camera in RightBooth

RightBooth provides fully integrated support for many makes and models of DSLR cameras connected to the PC by a USB lead (tethered), from the manufacturers Canon and Nikon.  See the list of models below.

Note:  We recommend using a Canon DSLR camera with RightBooth, rather than a Nikon
The reason?  Canon provide better support for their SDK which in turn means that we can provide our RightBooth users with better DSLR support.

Wireless camera support
Starting with RightBooth version 7.8.0, you can now also use a range of Canon models that support connection over WiFi.  Full details on using wireless Canon DSLR cameras can be found here

Note that we have not tested RightBooth with every model of DSLR camera listed below, so we recommend that you download and install the latest version of RightBooth, connect your DSLR and give it a try.

Using your DSLR camera with a USB lead connection:

  • Start RightBooth.  Ensure you are using the latest version
  • Read this article for details on how to configure everything
  • Also click the Help button on the RightBooth main screen and in the RightBooth Help file, read the following sections:
    • 'Using a DSLR camera Connected by a USB Lead'  and
    • 'DSLR Settings'
  • Try it !

DSLR Cameras Using a USB lead
RightBooth uses the official Canon EDSDK and the Nikon SDK for all its DSLR camera control. Canon and Nikon state that the models listed below are all supported by their SDKs, so in theory they should all work in RightBooth,

We are not able to test all models due to the high cost involved, and so in addition to the cameras we have tested, we are also reliant on reported user feedback for other models.  Therefore the list shows which models we have Tested and those that we have had Reported from our users.

If you have successfully used any of the untested models with RightBooth, please let us know.
