Adding Your Own Screens To An Event

Updated: Jan 2021

During your events, there may be occasions where you want to show your users a screen containing information or perhaps play a video or show some images.  This article explains how to add your own customised screens to your events.

Adding a new screen

  • Go into the Screen Editor
  • On the Toolbox click the Add items button
  • On the Add Items Toolbox, click the Screen button.
  • You will then be asked for the name of your new screen.  Enter a name that does not already exist in the screens listed on the Designer Toolbox.
  • Your new screen name will then be added to the top of the list and the new blank screen will be displayed.
You can now start to add items to the new screen.  You can add any item (or combination of items) from the Add Items Toolbox. You could display text, videos, images, countdowns, clocks, etc.

Choosing a Screen Display Timeout

You need to decide how long your new screen will be displayed to your event users.
Open the Properties Toolbox and set the Screen Timeout to one of the following:
  • Never - The screen will never time out.  During the event, when a screen is showing that never times out, you may want to allow the user some means of progressing past the screen.  This can be done by adding a Next button to the screen.
  • On display time - The screen will be displayed for the number of seconds entered into the Display time text box.  This is the default timeout setting for most screens in an event.
  • On screen video - The screen will time out after a screen background video has finished playing.  If the screen does not have a video background, the screen will never time out.
  • On screen audio - The screen will time out after the screen audio has finished played.  If the screen does not have an audio file, it never times out.
  • On video item - The screen will time out after a video item has finished playing.  If there are no video items on the screen, the screen will never time out. If there is more than one video item on the screen, the screen will time out after the first video item has finished playing.
  • On countdown - The screen will time out after a countdown item has finished playing.  If there are no countdown items on the screen, the screen will never time out. If there are more than one countdown items on the screen, the screen will time out after the first countdown item has finished playing.

Decide When To Show Your Screen

On the Screen Editor Toolbox, make sure your new screen is selected, then use the Up and Down arrow keys to move your screen up or down the Screen List to the position you would like the screen to appear.

For example, if you would like your new screen to appear immediately after the Choices screen during the event, move the screen down until it is shown below the Choices screen on the Screen List.

Points to Note

  • You can add as many new screens to your events as you need
  • Your new screens can have any combination of items on it that you need
  • When your screen times out, the next screen in the Screen list will be shown to the users
